Acquisition of the Harras Pharmacy in Munich

The company's history begins in 1977 with the acquisition of the Harras Pharmacy. The first products were developed in the pharmacy and registered with the Federal Health Office (now BfArM).

Takeover of the production of Gehrlicher Pharmazeutische Extrakte GmbH in Eurasburg (south of Munich)

The high demand for the predominantly herbal products prompted the company to take over production in-house. This meant that the entire value chain, from development, approval, and production to distribution, was under one roof. Gehrlicher Extrakte was founded in 1964 and already had many years of experience in extract production. Today, Gehrlicher exports a wide variety of specialty extracts as active pharmaceutical ingredients (Drug Master Files) to manufacturers of herbal medicines in 53 countries, far beyond its own requirements. Production is GMP-certified, meaning that the production conditions meet the most modern quality standards for pharmaceuticals.

Success story Traumaplant® pain cream with comfrey extract

Comfrey extract is brimming with expertise: From plant breeding (patented Trauma Comfrey), optimizing the cultivation method and harvesting to production and clinical testing, it was a long, arduous journey. But the will to succeed and in-depth pharmaceutical knowledge ultimately paid off. This enabled us to develop a pain cream proven effective in numerous clinical studies for use on blunt injuries, bruises, and sprains. Of particular note is the excellent tolerability of the high-dose comfrey extract, which is free of pyrrolizidine alkaloids and other harmful substances, meaning that Traumplant® can even be applied to accompanying open abrasions. Sensicutan® Cream – the cortisone-free alternative for eczema, itching and neurodermatitis

Sensicutan® Cream is also an in-house development based on the active ingredient combination alpha-bisabolol and heparin. The subsequent approval was granted in 2015, paving the way for further export activities. In addition to Germany, Sensicutan® Cream is already approved as a medicinal product in Austria, Switzerland, and Peru, and some are available there. More countries will follow...

Introduction of Glycowohl® in Germany

The product Glycowohl® is licensed to the pharmaceutical company Heilpflanzenwohl GmbH in Berlin. Contract manufacturing is carried out by Gehrlicher Extrakte GmbH in Eurasburg.
